HATCI California Proving Ground (CPG)
Situated in the middle of the Mojave Desert, HATCI’s California Proving Ground (CPG) is a 4500-acre facility that serves as the crux of our vehicle evaluation operations. There, our team members perform full vehicle evaluation, durability and development testing. Our vehicle development operations include activities ranging from ride & handling evaluations to Noise Vibrations & Harshness (NVH) and Heat Protection assessments. The CPG also features three fully equipped garages and a material weathering facility to assess and accelerate UV degradation.
At the heart of the CPG are HATCI’s eight driving courses which include:
- a 6.4-mile, 3-lane, oval-shaped track equipped with choppy roads
- 45 acres of vehicle dynamics assessments space
- a 2.4-mile handling track
- a 1-mile straight, stability road for straight line performance
- a durability loop with various structural impact events and a water and grit trough
Many of these test tracks feature:
- Multiple NVH surfaces
- High climb with up to 12% grade
- Various dirt, cobblestone and gravel roads that even at times features real-world defects to simulate actual driving conditions.
